Terms of Use
The rules for using LegalJournal.net, written to be read rather than skimmed past.
Effective date: July 9, 2026. By using LegalJournal.net you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.
Acceptable Use
LegalJournal.net is provided for personal, informational use: reading our guides and following our links to official sources. You may not use the site to break the law, misrepresent our content as advice from a lawyer, present yourself as affiliated with Legal Journal, or interfere with the site's operation, including automated scraping at a volume that burdens the service.
One point matters enough to repeat from our legal disclaimer: court records reached through the official portals we link to must not be used for employment, tenant, credit, or insurance screening. That use is regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act and requires an FCRA-compliant consumer reporting agency.
Copyright and Reuse
The guides, directories, and other original content on this site belong to Legal Journal and are protected by copyright. You are welcome to quote brief passages with attribution and a link back to the page you are quoting. Republishing whole pages, with or without modification, is not permitted without our written consent.
The underlying law is a different matter. Statutes, regulations, and court opinions are public records that belong to no one, including us. We link to them at their official sources; nothing in these terms restricts your use of the law itself.
Disclaimers and Liability
The site and everything on it are provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We work to keep our guides accurate, but we do not warrant that any page is complete, current, or error-free, and we make no warranty at all about third-party sites we link to. Official portals change their systems, rules, and fees without notifying us, and a link from us is a pointer, not an endorsement or a guarantee of what you will find there.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Legal Journal and its operators are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its content or on linked third-party sites. Nothing on the site is legal advice, and using it creates no attorney-client relationship. If a decision matters, verify the information with the official source or a licensed attorney first.
Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, always lives at this page, one click from the Legal Journal homepage. Continued use of the site after a revision takes effect means you accept the revised terms. If a change is significant, we will make it visible here rather than slip it in quietly.
